Mike Huckabee and Donald Trump are birds of a feather, John Brummett writes, and in this weird political era, a Huckatrump presidential ticket might not be the stuff of absurdist fiction after all.
Trump, presumably, could bring the money that Huckabee has always had a hard time raising (in part because I don't think he could ever quite shake a reluctance to ask for money that didn't go straight into his own pocket.) A sample:
Their differences center on hair and cultural background. Otherwise Mike Huckabee and Donald Trump amount to the same presidential candidate.
A media celebrity first and always, tacky, conspicuously consuming, shamelessly self-promotional, glibly superficial on the issues, given to reckless demagoguery against Barack Obama — I wonder, is that Huckabee or Trump we’re talking about?
