The Friday night line is open. Final notes:
* STORM DAMAGE: If you haven't checked, I've added several updates to the early morning storm roundup. The high winds did widespread damage and killed seven. Tree fall in Little Rock blocked dozens of streets and smashed many homes and cars and a volunteer effort is underway to assist city public works in removing debris. A statewide damage report is available at the storm link. Comprehensive coverage and a slideshow, from which the photo above was taken, at our news partner Fox 16.
* BEST THING I READ TODAY: Former NBA center John Amaechi, who is gay, responded eloquently to Kobe Bryant, who yelled an anti-gay slur at a referee and is protesting the $100,000 fine.
* SAD DOG STORY OF THE DAY: 50 poodles seized in a drug raid in Benton County — ill-kept, but "sociable." Officers let a seriously ill woman keep one poodle as a companion.
* POT BUST: Razorback linebacker Ross Rasner, reputedly smoking marijuana in his parked car. The campus cops got nothing better to do? It's the third Hog pot bust of the year. Unbelievably, one of them was ratted out by a dorm neighbor for smoking in the privacy of his dorm room. Is there no honor among college students? What's next, squealing to the cops on somebody chugging a Bud underage? Spare me the holy rollers.
