That word “gerrymander” is going to be thrown around a lot this week when Arkansas congressional redistricting plans finally get a full airing.

In that context, I’d like to pass along a link to Slate’s roundup of the 20 worst gerrymanders in the country. Doesn’t mean something less bodacious is NOT a gerrymander, but these are archetypes of the practice.

The district above is represented by Rep. Trent Franks (R-Arizona), the one below by Rep. Walter Jones (R-N.C.). Looks a little like Commodore Hays’ TIF District in North Little Rock. By the way, isn’t it about time to set a trial date for the school district challenge of that crazily gerrymandered tax grab?
