A conservative women's group whose interests include punitive legislation aimed at immigrants has announced that Rep. Jon Hubbard, a sponsor of the legislation targeting benefits provided people without legal residency documents, will be back at work next week after hospitalization for a mild heart attack. He's scheduled a town hall meeting at 7 p.m. Friday, March 11, at Arkansas State University in Jonesboro. Said the newsletter:
Jon Hubbard plans to return to his business at the legislature Monday, March 7th, after a mild heart attack. He had one stent inserted after a heart catheterization where one blocked artery was found. The doctor has given him permission to continue full activity, saying the stent fixed his problem. Thanks to all of you who prayed for him.
See this link [to the Arkansas Times] for a good interview Hubbard had with reporters after his HB1292 failed in the House Committee with nine Democrats voting against, 8 Republicans voting for and three Democrats who didn't show up for the vote. The article is nasty but the video is very good.
