Two workers were killed in a house renovation project on H Street, just west of North Martin in Hillcrest about 3:30 p.m. this afternoon. Fox 16 says a scaffolding fell and came in contact with a live power line. The house (not far from my own) had been virtually razed and was being expanded and rebuilt from the ground floor up. Scaffolding had been erected by, among others, masonry workers putting up a brick facade and wooden siding on the upper floor. Neighbors said the scaffolding didn't fall, but workers may have been on the ground, putting it in place, when it contacted the power line. That line, now repaired, can be seen in the photo. The scaffolding was being hauled away when I stopped.
H runs parallel to Hill Road. This home is about a block north of where Hill Road ends at the gate to the Ozark Point water treatment plant.
