The rising cost of retiree health benefits

Hard to imagine this trend won't be felt in Arkansas soon, if it is not already.

Governors and mayors facing large deficits have set their sights on a relatively new target — the soaring expense of health benefits for millions of retired state and local workers.

The Pew Study on which the article relies shows Arkansas among a large group of states putting aside virtually nothing to meet health costs in pension plans, though better than many in financing expected pension payment demands.
