Republicans — and presumably co-sponsor Rep. Mike Ross — have decided not to push forward with a new, more limited definition of rapes for abortions covered by Medicaid. The proposal would have exempted statutory rape, incest and other “non-forcible” rape. It had prompted an outcry from women’s groups and all decent people.
The Daily Show commented last night. See below. On point, as usual. Even Republicans finally got some of the message. Ross? I’m not so sure.

UPDATE: Democratic women say the legislation still sucks because it still amounts to an effort, like that in Arkansas, to curb private coverage of abortion. Ross is still on board to deny women control of medical decisions.
