The House reversed itself today and passed Rep. Fred Allen's bill to ban use of hand-held cell phones by drivers in school zones. The vote was 53-41.
No need for a standing ovation. If cell phone use is dangerous in school zones — and it is — it's dangerous everywhere else. And studies show conclusively that no-hands cell phones are also hazardous to attentive driving. We have miles to go on this issue.
