Yesterday, "The State of Arkansas
" Facebook page caught our attention
. A status update on the page encouraged citizens to celebrate "Dr. Martin Luther King/General Robert E. Lee Day," which drew some heated comments from Facebookers and those on our blog as well. A link on the "info" section of the page takes viewers to the state parks and tourism website. However, Dena Woerner, communications manager for the Arkansas Department of Parks and Tourism, says she has no idea who is running the site and, to her knowledge, it is not affiliated with the state in any way. That would explain the somewhat unofficial tone of some the comments from the site's administrator.
So, who's running the page? And, to what end? We'd like to know.
