House Republicans have created a budget czar in Paul Ryan and will use a procedural dodge to adopt a budget, a procedure Republicans decried when Democrats tried to use it last year.
And then there's deficit reduction. The House's new deficit reduction rules — pass nothing that increases spending — will EXEMPT pet items that will expand the deficit, such as tax increases and repeal of health crae reform.
None of this is very surprising. The only question is whether Republican sloganeering versus reality will again carry the day with the American electorate.
