Gene Lyons makes the case for measured praise for President Obama in the tax cut deal. It's well argued. The stimulus measures Obama won — for help for wage-earners likely to spend their money rather than bond coupon clippers likely to sit on it — are important sops. But politically, you know that if better times come the Republicans will claim it was the tax cuts for the wealthy that did the trick. Someday, Dems are going to have to figure out the messaging.
