Says here at NWAOnline (and story will mostly be behind pay wall) that Congressman-elect Steve Womack's son got special treatment from state Correction Department on his sentence on a plea bargained drug charge. In short, he got moved to the head of the line to get into a boot camp program that could get him out of a 10-year meth dealing sentence in 105 days. Prison officials defend expediting James Womack's entry — while others have languished in the county jail awaiting enrollment in the same program — because they view him as a high-risk inmate as son of a public official. A safety call, in other words. Might be a good call. Might not. Did Steve Womack build a criminal enemies list while mayor of Rogers?
