More in the Talk Is Cheap department about the new wave Republicans:
Democrats note that the House Republican Conference today supported Rep. Hal Rogers of Kentucky to head the House Appropriations committee. In this new era of fiscal responsibility, they chose someone known as the Prince of Pork for his love of earmarks — 136 for $246 million in the last two years. If the three Republican freshmen from Arkansas — budget hawks all — objected to this appointment I haven't seen their news releases yet.
Messrs. Womack, Griffin and Crawford? Is this really a new era? Rogers claims he's been reborn as a budget slasher. We shall see.
