A lawsuit has been filed in Pulaski County by a Crawford County resident seeking to have the name of House District 83 Republican candidate Tom Fite removed from the ballot because of a 1984 federal conviction for aiding and abetting Medicaid bribery. A news release explains.
The record of the case indicates Fite pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor and received probation after a trial on a felony charge ended in a mistrial. The Constitution bars office to people convicted of embezzlement of public funds, bribery or other "infamous" crimes.
