Bill Lawson of Stephens Media provides a few more details on the woman killed Monday morning in the drive of Clinton Elementary in Sherwood. He says Amber Hutcherson was struck by a pickup while standing outside her vehicle "during an apparent domestic incident." The report says the driver of the pickup was a "male relative" of Hutcherson.
UPDATE: Police are now reporting that Hutcherson's husband was the driver of the pickup and that they'd had a dispute. But police are describing the event Monday in a way that suggests it could have been accidental. From the Sherwood Police:
On Monday, October 18, 2010 at approximately 9:30 AM, Amber Hutcherson and her husband, Henry Hutcherson, were engaged in a verbal dispute in the parking lot of the Clinton Elementary School where their children attend classes. As Mr. Hutcherson was attempting to leave, he entered his vehicle and began to pull away. As Mr. Hutcherson was driving away, witness statements indicate Mrs. Hutcherson approached the driver’s side of his vehicle and at some point lost her footing and was subsequently struck by the rear tires of Mr. Hutcherson’s vehicle. Mr. Hutcherson stopped the vehicle and summoned emergency personnel. The accident is still under investigation to determine if there were any extenuating circumstances involving the incident that could lead to criminal charges being filed.
