Good story on a fight in South Carolina, where a Tea Party leader has supported a spending earmark because, well, he's a general contractor and the earmark would bring millions to Charleston for a huge port project.
Sen. Jim DeMint is blocking the earmark because he opposes the earmark process on principle. Put Rep. John Boozman in that sanctified league who won't vote for spending that offends tender sensibilities. The list of earmarks for Arkansas he's opposed is too long to list. Lately, Sen. Blanche Lincoln has also been highlighting Boozman's refusal to vote for a number of spending measures for the troops, body armor and little stuff like that. Boozman, responds from cover through a spokesman, since he's now dodged more than a dozen joint appearance invitations with Lincoln, including yesterday's Political Animals Club. It's the political equivalent of the four corners offense.
