Wayne Woods has been named CEO of Cranford Johnson Robinson Woods, the ad and PR agency, which has also expanded its board. David Martin, the previous CEO, and several other agency employees left in May.
Cranford Johnson Robinson Woods (CJRW) announced today that the agency's executive committee of the board of directors has named Wayne Woods as chairman and chief executive officer of the agency. Woods, a nearly 40-year veteran of the communications industry, was previously named interim CEO in May and is the firm’s sixth CEO. He was named vice-chairman last December and was president of the agency from 2003 until 2010.
"We are fortunate to have a veteran leader like Wayne Woods," said Wayne Cranford, co-founder of CJRW and chairman emeritus. "Wayne has proven he has the vision and ability to lead CJRW as we enter our 50th year as an agency." The agency will begin celebrating its 50th year on October 15, 2010.
The board also increased the executive committee by one member and added seven new members to an expanded board of directions. Steven Allen, the agency's chief financial officer and current board member, was named to the executive committee. The new board members include Scott Caldwell, vice president of marketing services; Jay Cranford, senior vice president and creative director; Brian Kratkiewicz, senior vice president/director of media and interactive; Jordan Johnson, vice president/director of public policy; Karen Mullikin, senior vice president/director of account services; Denver Peacock, vice president/director of public relations; and Brenda Worm, vice president/director of operations. With these additions, the board of directors will be expanded to a total of 15 members.
"It's a tremendous honor to be asked to lead CJRW during this important time in our firm's history," said Wayne Woods. "As we celebrate our heritage and embrace our future, I am thankful for the current leaders of the agency who will be joining me on the board of directors."
Wayne began his career in 1971, when he joined The Woods Brothers Agency, which his brother, Shelby Woods, founded four years earlier. Nearly twenty years later, they merged with Cranford Johnson Robinson Associates to form Cranford Johnson Robinson Woods, one of the leading communications firms in the region.
