Hurry the elections

It's growing a little wearisome.

* More debate debates: Republican Jim Keet complains that Gov. Mike Beebe won't agree to an additional TV debate on a network affiliate beyond the debate already scheduled on AETN.

* Chad Causey, the 1st District Democrat, today vowed a 10 percent congressional pay cut if elected. Why not 20? UPDATE: The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee says it has a new poll showing Causey up over his Republican opponent Rick Crawford 46-44.

* 2nd District Democrat Joyce Elliott said she didn't want to play politics with today's U.S. attorney forum, but she did. (Which is OK by me.) Returning Tim Griffin to Washington, where he was a figure in the U.S. attorney scandal, isn't exactly the way to bring a new tone to Washington, her campaign suggested. "The only question we would ask is, 'If you want to change the way Washington works who
should you trust?'"

* An Economist writer was favorably struck by a couple of preachers-turned-politicians at Sunday's Arkansas Republican rally, but maybe this should be taken with a grain of salt. Someone had to inform the writer that that wasn't the Mississippi flowing past the River Market pavilion where the rally was held.

* The Democratic Party tries to remind voters, as if any are listening, that the "Fair" Tax extolled by John Boozman and Mike Huckabee would raise taxes for most people but provide a whopping tax cut for the rich.

* Beth Anne Rankin, the 4th District Republican, distributed a photo of herself receiving a .44 magnum rifle from Mike Huckabee, courtesy of an arms manufacturer with Arkansas ties. She's going to stand up to Nancy Pelosi on gun control, see? Outgun gun nut Mike Ross? Not bloody likely.
