Burglar targets churches

The Little Rock police report three church break-ins early this morning and the theft of cash from at least one of them.

2010-100948 Burglary New Hope Baptist Church, 1851 Howard

On Monday, September 13, 2010, at approximately 0251 hours, Officer received a radio call to 1851 S. Howard in reference to a subject breaking into the church. Communications received information that the suspect was a black male driving a Toyota Camry. Officers checked the church and found that the front door was kicked open. The suspect broke into the church office. Unknown what is missing at this time.

2010-100952 Burglary Cross Street Christian Church, 1223 S. Cross

On Monday, September 13, 2010, at approximately 0359 hours, Officers received a radio call to an alarm at the Cross Street Christian Church. When they arrived, they found that the front door had been kicked open and the office had been ransacked. Crime Scene was contacted to process the scene and a church representative responded. Unknown what is missing at this time.

2010-100953 Burglary Old Land Mark House of Prayer, 2001 Simpson

On Monday, September 13, 2010, at approximately 0414 hours, Officers received a radio call to the Old Land Mark church in reference to an alarm. Officers located the front door to the business was pried open and the church office door was kick open. Crime Scene responded and processed the scene. A church representative responded. It is believed at this time that approximately $2400.00 in checks and cash were taken. The money and checks were in a red bank bag.

It is believed that the same suspect burglarized all three church buildings. The burglar is driving gold Toyota Camry. Detectives are working on the case, but we have no arrests at this time. It is unknown right now what items were taken during the burglaries.
