I was kind of hoping there was something more interesting at the root of this Little Rock police report. Multiple thefts of Arkansas Democrat-Gazette vending boxes since April. 35 to 40 of them found dumped in Southwest Little Rock. A letters to the editor writer finally gone totally berserk over Gene Lyons?
Alas, no, says Police Lt. Terry Hastings. Apparently this was just a lot of lifting, transporting, jimmying and dumping boxes to get at the few dollars worth of coins inside. Police were tipped to a potential suspect, Hastings said, and prints found on the dumped boxes matched those of a suspect now under arrest.
