The LRPD's Terry Hastings sends along the highlights of overnight crime activity: a shooting, a smash-and-grab with police chase and a home intrusion robbery. All in a night's work.


Battery 1st Degree — 1800 Labette Manor

On Tuesday, August 10, 2010 at approx. 2206 hours officers responded to this area in reference to a disturbance with a weapon. While officers were en route, communications advised there was a shooting victim at this location. Officers made contact with Jermain McKinner (B/M 08/19/1989) who was suffering from a gunshot wound to the right arm. Mr. McKinner did not give a statement to officers while at the scene. MEMS responded and transported Mr. McKinner to Baptist ER for treatment. His injury was not life threatening. Officers made contact with a witness who advised he observed Mr. McKinner involved in a fight with several unknown suspects. The witness advised he then heard several gunshots and observed Mr. McKinner run. While officers were on scene communications advised there was a second shooting victim at Baptist Hospital who was dropped off. Officers confirmed this victim, identified as Nolen Jones (B/M 12/31/1985) was also shot at this location. Mr. Jones was shot in the left leg. Mr. Jones injury was not life threatening. There are no known suspects at this time. The incident was the result of a disturbance over a girl.

Commercial Burglary / Pursuit

On August 11, 2010, at approximately 0257 hours, officers were in the 10000 block of North Rodney Parham Road, checking the businesses for a burglary suspect when they observed a 1999 Chevrolet van (AR LPN 196EJA, which was later determined to be stolen, backed into the Radio Shack located at 10720 Rodney Parham Road. Officers observed a B/M dressed in all black come out of the business with an unknown object in his hand. As Officers pulled into the parking lot and the suspect got into the van and left eastbound on Rodney Parham Road. Officers pursued the vehicle to a parking lot of 8707 Barrow where it continued to the rear of the businesses and then stopped at the edge of the woods. The driver exited the van and ran eastbound through the woods. Several officers arrived and a perimeter was set up. Officers and K9 searched the area with negative results. No arrests at this time. It is unknown if this suspect is the same as the suspect who burglarized the Tobacco Store.

Aggravated Robbery/Home Intrusion

During tonight’s shift, at 0230 hours, officers responded to 16 Britts Ln. in reference to a burglary just occurred. Officers made contact with Sharrika Ashley, B/F 04-25-80, the owner of the residence who advised that at least three unknown black males kicked her back door in, pulled handguns, and then robbed her and four other occupants inside her home. There were no reported injuries. Detective Hopper and CSSU were requested to respond to the scene. No arrests at this time.
