U.S. Rep. Mike Ross has landed almost $1 milllion in federal dough to improve the roadway of a commercial strip along I-30 in his hometown of Prescott.
WASHINGTON - U.S. Senators Blanche Lincoln, Mark Pryor and Congressman Mike Ross (AR-04) today announced that the city of Prescott will receive a $910,000 Economic Development Administration (EDA) grant from the U.S. Department of Commerce. The funds will be used to service a commercial area along Interstate 30 in Prescott. The improvements are anticipated to create about 30 jobs and will help ensure business retention and expansion while accommodating increased traffic volume in the area.
“I am thrilled to announce this investment that will create construction jobs and promote long-term economic development in Prescott,” Lincoln said. “Strong roads and infrastructure are critical to Arkansas’s businesses for transporting goods and attracting customers, and I will continue to do everything I can to secure funding for projects that strengthen Arkansas’s economy.”
“Building a strong transportation system is vital to attracting economic development opportunities and growing local communities. These funds will help boost Prescott’s economy, create good jobs, and improve the quality of life for area residents,” Pryor said.
“Investing in our infrastructure not only helps create jobs now, but it also prepares our local economies for long-term economic growth,” said Ross. “I am proud to announce this investment in I-30 around Prescott, because it will help them better handle the increased volume in traffic and better serve the businesses along this important traffic corridor.”
