Coleman convicted of Memphis murder

Remember Harry Ray Coleman? He's a Tennessee investor who's active in farm dealings in Arkansas who dropped out of a Memphis fund-raiser for congressional candidate Chad Causey after we reported his appearance on the police blotter in the Memphis newspaper.

He was convicted Friday of second-degree murder for using his permitted handgun to shoot an unarmed Fed Ex employee in an argument over how close Coleman had parked his Hummer to the other man's SUV in the parking lot of a Cordova, Tenn., restaurant. He faces a sentence up to 25 years.

Coleman's defense was that he and his wife were being bullied by the man he killed. The jury saw it the prosecutor's way.

"Poor Harry Coleman. He had to kill a man. He wants to be the first man in history to stick a gun in the mouth of an unarmed man, to stick it in the chest of an unarmed man and then to shoot him to death in front of his children and then call himself a victim."
