State ends a bad year; June up



The state finished its fiscal year June 30 and it was the second year of declining revenues, a whopping 2.4 percent drop in gross revenues from the previous year.

The numbers for June, the last month of the year, are a little more hopeful. Gross revenues were up 1.2 percent over the same month last year and 7.8 percent above forecast.

Here's the full report. In the important category including sales taxes, revenues were up 3.9 percent over June 2009.

UPDATE: The state's reduced spending in the final months of the year produced a $61 million surprlus. Gov. Beebe outlined how it will be spent.
