City population estimates for 2009 from the U.S. Census are in. (These are not numbers from the current census, which will be released in December and used to reapportion Congress and the legislature.) A reader scans the numbers and finds these changes for the two major cities in Pulaski County between 2000 and 2009.

Little Rock 183,133 191,930 (+8,797 or +4.8 percent)

North Little Rock 60,433 60,139 (-304 or -.5 percent)

This link will take you to tables with complete Arkansas results. The usual places — Northwest Arkansas, suburban cities in Central Arkansas — show a dramatic population growth during the decade.
