Gov. Mike Beebe has appointed Raymond Abramson of Holly Grove to the Arkansas Court of Appeals to fill the seat vacated by Price Marshall, now a federal judge.

Governor Mike Beebe has named Raymond Abramson of Holly Grove as Associate Judge for District 1, Position 2 on the Arkansas Court of Appeals.
Abramson, 59, has spent 34 years in private practice in Clarendon. He has served as a special judge in the Clarendon and Brinkley district courts, and as the public defender for Monroe County. A 1976 graduate of the University of Arkansas School of Law, Abramson is past president of both the Arkansas Public Defenders Association and the Monroe County Bar Association. Beebe previously appointed Abramson as a Special Associate Justice to the Arkansas Supreme Court.
The appointment, effective August 1, will fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Judge Price Marshall, who has been appointed and confirmed to the federal bench. Abramson will serve through the end of 2012. The remaining two years of Marshall's term will be filled by a judge to be elected by the voters of the 12 east-Arkansas counties that comprise District 1.
