A busy day today for the U.S. attorney's office.
1) It announced the indictment of stockbroker Mark Madison on mail fraud charges for converting more than $1 million investors' money to personal use. The news release. The state Securities Department also announced a move toward revocation of his licenses for sales of unregistered securities.
2) It announced the indictment of two men for a kickback and state tax evasion scheme that allegedly allowed them and another man to pocket more than $2 million in kickbacks on operation of retail tobacco stores.
3) A Jefferson County man was indicted in a student loan fraud scheme.
