Legislators yesterday heard a legislative analyst propose a different, less arbitrary standard for measuring whether Arkansas school districts are guilty of grade inflation. This has become a big issue because lottery scholarships will be harder to get for students in districts on the inflation list.
I'm still not at ease with punishment of students on account of failures, if they be that, of their school districts. Particularly when the burden seems almost certain to fall on a group that needs scholarship help more on account of economic circumstances.
