At last report, Joyce Elliott was leading the 2nd District Democratic primary for Congress and Tim Wooldridge was leading in the 1st among Democrats, each with votes in the high 30 percent range.
I think both have problems drawing votes from the other candidates, Wooldridge even moreso than Elliott. Trailing candidates in the 1st District are not Religious Righters like Wooldridge. In the 2nd, how will the progressive votes who favored other candidates go on a choice between Elliott and Wills? Electability will be an important question in that race. I think it is fair to say Republican Tim Griffin would hope for a Joyce Elliott candidacy. A gun-slinging, mud-slinging, inside-the-Beltway Karl Rove acolyte is going to want a liberal black woman with an admirable and clear record on immigration, sexual issues, civil rights, etc., as an opponent.
