You have to pick up the slack.
I have to go home to finish race-day prep for the Brantley family Rock Candy 500 entry. (I'll make the starting line thanks to a major axle repair from David Koon.)
The Pinewood Derby-style races are tomorrow night, 7-9 p.m. Thursday, at the River Market pavilion. You need not be entered to watch, have a cold drink and join in the cause for the Centers for Youth and Families. If last year is a guide, some pretty slick model cars, carved from blocks of wood, will be on display.
These are busy times for the Times. Remember the 2nd District Congress Democratic candidate debates at 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 11 at Sticky Fingerz. All ages admitted (no smoking, in case you wondered). Gerard Matthews will moderate. E-mail questions are welcome in advance and also will be taken from the floor that evening -- email@example.com
