Chad Causey, hand-picked by Rep. Marion "Good Riddance" Berry to succeed him in Congress, has won the endorsement of the National Education Association.
The candidate in this race with a strong and deep record on public education is state Sen. Steve Bryles. But his support for the likes of charter school expansion (excessive support in my view, but by no means a disqualifier) likely didn't help him with the teachers union. Said Causey's release:
“Chad Causey believes that we have to reform the misguided policies and unfunded mandates of No Child Left Behind. Causey is a strong proponent of incentives that attract new teachers to rural school districts,” said Arkansas Education Association President Donna Morey.
