A physician friend traveling in Canada sent a report on the ills of its government provided health insurance:
We are in Canada. Amazingly, no dead bodies on the street! We have seen several hospitals and amazingly, no long lines, and no armed guards pushing people away! I have seen many handicapped people, and so far have seen no death panels in pursuit.
Everyone covered, yet people have clothes, cars, homes, and travel agency ads seem to indicate people actually get vacations and they travel!
The Canadian pediatricians I have met say they love their practices -- which they, not the government own. All their patients are insured. They do not have to call insurance companies to get approval for referrals, tests, prescriptions, hospital admissions. Their collection rate is 99.45%.
The Vancouver Children's Hospital has 189 beds, and their billing department is ONE person.
