Rep. John Burris, 24, of Harrison has been elected to lead the Republican House caucus.
Gerard Matthews wrote an advance on this election, which came down to Burris against Rep. Les Carnine.
Today, Arkansas House Republicans elected Representative John Burris of Harrison as the new Republican House Caucus leader. Representative Burris will replace outgoing House Caucus Leader Representative Bryan King of Green Forest.
“I look forward to working with Representative Burris,” says Republican Party of Arkansas Chairman Doyle Webb. “We are energized that the youngest member of the Arkansas State House of Representatives was elected to lead our state forward with new and creative ideas. Our House Caucus is unified behind this decision and we look forward to Representative Burris’ plan to grow the Caucus as well as our state party.”
“Representative King did an excellent job as House Caucus leader,” says Representative Burris. “We’ve got a great Caucus and expect to make significant gains after the November general election.”
Representative Burris is currently serving his first term in the Arkansas State House of Representatives.
