The University of Arkansas Board of Trustees
voted 9-1 today to approve a tuition and fee increase across
all UA institutions. The lone holdout was trustee Sam Hilburn
, a Little Rock attorney. UA spokesman Ben Beaumont
said the board felt the increase was necessary to make up for shortfalls that are the result of incresaed enrollment and a reduction in state funding. "It's a balancing act," Beaumont said. The increases range from 2.97 percent at Cossatot Community College on up to 6.91 percent at the Fort Smith campus.
