The families of three police officers killed by ex-convict Maurice Clemmons are suing Pierce County in Washington, claiming the county’s jail did not heed warnings that should have kept Clemmons behind bars. They are seeking a total of $134 million in damages. Clemmons was the subject of some controversy, as you may remember. Clemmons had an extensive criminal record here in Arkansas and received a commuted sentence from then-governor Mike Huckabee in 2000.
