Frank Broyles, the former UA athletic director and football coach, talked today at the Mosaic Templars Cultural Center about integration of Razorback sports and Gerard Matthews was on hand to capture some of it on camera. In response to a question, he blamed Southwest Conference rules for delaying the arrival of black athletes on the UA football team.
Former Hog Muskie Harris, who moderated, used the occasion to mention plans for an Arkansas African-American Sports Museum. He said fund-raising had begun.
UPDATE: Ron Breeding of KUAR, who also attended, has blogged about Broyles' selective memory on some key issues (including his refusal to talk to the author of the recent book about Nolan Richardson).
