Globe-trotting U.S. Rep. John Boozman can find a way for taxpayers to send him and his wife to Germany with $900-a-day unitemized pocket money, but he apparently can't find a way to join the Magnificent Seven other candidates in the Republican senatorial primary for the first big debate of the season tonight.
It's at 6:30 p.m at UALR Law School. Insideritis uber alles, I guess. Boozman intends to act like he's an unopposed incumbent. Will GOP primary voters buy that in the season of the teabag?
UPDATE: Dem. Party piles on.
“Why is the hand picked candidate, sent straight home from the smoke filled back rooms of the GOP head honchos in D.C., afraid to show his face and debate his opponents?” asked Democratic Party of Arkansas Senior Advisor Gabe Holmstrom. “Why is John Boozman still afraid to talk about the issues facing GOP primary voters?”
PS -- I know Boozman claims he's busy in Washington. But being absent is as good as a no vote and that's all he's been doing anyway.
PPS -- Big day in the House today.
