Who needs an election?

One Republican senatorial candidate, Gilbert Baker, wants it known he is for God and guns (presumably the others aren't as sufficiently committed as Gilbo.) Maybe it's because I stayed out too late at the Times Musicians Showcase. Maybe I'm just grumpy. But this little news release struck me as the shallowest, most cynical political pander to date and that's going some. (How'd he forget harassment of baby killers and beating up on queers, the other two pillars of American liberty, Repub style?) Of course he had to do some early pre-emption in the firearms area because it was revealed in his last political campaign that HE DID NOT HAVE A HUNTING LICENSE. Wuss. And a Matthew 6:6 to him, too.
