The legislature is in recess. They should adjourn next week.
A shortage of money didn't hurt in depressing shenanigans, though leaders entered the first fiscal session intent on keeping it as routine as possible. I was surprised, with elections coming up, how few efforts were made to grab headlines with cheap stunts. Rep. Keith Ingram's attack on Lt. Gov. Bill Halter's budget was one exception. There were a few others of brief and inconsequential duration. Give 'em time.
UPDATE: KUAR captures Sen. Terry Smith's session-ending poetry on fights between governors and legislators over GIF money.
