An earlier post about U.S. Sen. Blanche Lincoln's troubles in the black community over judicial appointments carried the requisite reference to a potential Democratic primary challenge by Lt. Gov. Bill Halter. A spokesman declined to rule anything out, which means a race for Senate still could be in the cards.
If Halter does announce for Senate next week, he better toughen up. When he can't handle a homerun pitch -- a question from a KUAR reporter about Rep. Keith Ingram's silly effort to cut Halter's budget this week -- you have to wonder how he'll handle the real brushbacks. He dodged the question, ducked into an elevator and apparently was so flustered he exited the elevator on the same floor he entered. The bit is drawing a lot of yuks from the Capitol gang.
