Gov. Mike Beebe was cornered at the National Governors Association on the possibility of a Bill Halter challenge of U.S. Sen. Blanche Lincoln. He thinks Lincoln would whup Halter. And there's a notable lack of warmth, I think it's fair to say, regards Beebe's comments about the lt. governor.
I'd think we'll know Halter's decision by the first of next week. Conventional wisdom is that Senate is the longer shot on account of greater money requirements and polls indicating Lincoln would enjoy a big edge over Halter among primary voters. U.S. House would be cheaper, perhaps somewhat easier. He's re-elected in a walk, though it's unclear the value of that office in future plans.
