First, more charter schools

Just guessing at likely topics of discussion at a coming educational summit of "25 to 30 of our state's prominent business and community leaders" being promoted by Gov. Mike Beebe's most recent appointee to the state Board of Education, Vicki Saviers of Little Rock. The luncheon is also sponsored by Jim Walton, Walter Hussman, Claiborne Deming and Steve (Jackson T. Jr.) Stephens.

Anybody with AEA get an invite? A Democrat? Parents of kids in Little Rock public schools? Just curious. I'll ask.

Jim Walton, Walter Hussman, Claiborne Deming, Steve Stephens, and I extend an invitation to you for an important luncheon we are hosting to discuss what has been done, to date and what we must do, moving forward, to improve educational outcomes for all Arkansas school children. We are inviting 25 to 30 of our state's most prominent business and community leaders to participate.
The luncheon details are, as follows:
Arkansas Education Accountability Coalition Luncheon
Monday, March 8th
12:00 noon until 1:30 p.m.
The Little Rock Club (top floor of the Regions Bank Building)
Little Rock
Please let me know if you will be able to join the group.  I have a State Board of Ed meeting that day, so I may be late.  Jim, Claiborne and Walter will be there for sure, though.  I think that you will find it interesting, and you will add a lot to the conversation!
I will be out of town all this week, but I look forward to hearing from you when I return.
Vicki Saviers
