The $25 million Powerball winner has not stepped forward yet. He/she must still be meeting with a tax lawyer/accountant.
But the convenience store owner in Mayflower who sold the ticket, and will pocket a $50,000 bonus, is quoted on Channel 4 as saying he first resisted the idea of selling lottery tickets for moral reaasons. He did say he'd tithe from his bonus.
Channel 4 says additionally that lottery officials believe the numbers were picked, rather than terminal-generated. And street talk in Mayflower is that the winner is a 22-year-old single dad. We'll know sooner or later.
