A reader sends along a link to a story this week about plans in Houston, Texas to erect a statue honoring former Secretary of State James Baker (his long service to Bush family political causes is, of course, important to rich Houstonians.)
Reader raises the question: Isn't it time to talk about some form of tribute in Arkansas to Hillary Rodham Clinton? She was instrumental in her husband's long governance here (Encyclopedia of Arkanas photo above shows her at school standards commission meeting in 1983) as well as in lasting contributions to the public good, such as the Arkansas Advocates for Children and Families. She was a near-winner as a candidate for the Democratic presidential nomination. She was a U.S. senator from New York. She IS secretary of state. An effort to name the Little Rock Airport for her some years ago was overly ambitious and premature. The idea was shouted down by the usual suspects and they could be expected to shout again at even the notion of a small plaque in an out-of-the-way place.
What do you think? Good topic to chew on a slow day.
