Bill Yeates, who owns My Friend's Place tavern in North Little Rock and has worked to build a vets memorial there, has sent an e-mail announcing he's filed paperwork to be considered for appointemnt to the Ward 3 alderman left vacant by the resignation of the indicted Cary Gaines.
The city clerk's office said, however, that it had sent notice to Yeates that his application still lacked some of the required particulars, so he is not viewed, at this moment, as having filed. Several others have expressed an interest in the position, but none has filed yet, the clerk's office said.
UPDATE: At 1:05 p.m. the clerk's office called to say Yeates had cleared all the paperwork hurdles. He's official. The Times of North Little Rock reported last week that Steve Baxter, John Parker and Ronald "Woody" Harris also had expressed a written interest in the opening. A couple more people picked up info packets.
