Have demagoguic tongue, will travel. Mike Huckabee jetted into Omaha today to whip up a small crowd furious that Sen. Ben Nelson has provided the super-majority necessary to pass a tentative start at health care reform.
Sayeth the Huck: It is an attack on the very liberty of the American people to try to provide more of us with health care. (The Bible did not come up today, of course, because you know what it says about ministering to the poor and sick.) Social Security and Medicare likewise were attacks on liberty in the Huckabee school of political philosophy.
Sen. Blanche Lincoln had a conference call today to stake out her talking points against the 'bagger onslaught -- that the time is now for reform, that the bill is a product of two years of work in Senate committee, that she staved off attacks on liberty by beating that terrible ol' public option, that her brave stand against extremists on both sides will stabilize health care costs and provide for better coverage and quality of health care for all Arkansans. Etc.
