NLR Mayor Pat Hays has floated a budget and it would appear from the account in the Democrat-Gazette this morning that he's going back deep into the well of electric revenues to keep city spending up. He's giving back only a token amount of the disastrous rate increase that came when the city's luck finally ran out on being its own electric utility.
This isn't the only accounting funny business likely to get some more attention. Scott Miller at Argenta News notes some sharp differences in what the mayor suggested using natural gas as vehicle fuel would cost back when he wanted the transit authority to convert the bus fleet and now that he's going to do a limited conversion on city vehicles. Go figure.
