Homeless man dies from beating

The Little Rock police have announced the death Tuesday of a homeless man found beaten Nov. 13 in the homeless camp under the Cedar Hill Road overpass of railroad tracks in Riverdale. Murder charges are being studied against two suspects, also homeless, arrested after the beating.

On 11-13-2009, William Fought was found by his brother whom he shared a homeless camp with, almost beaten to death.  William Fought was transported to UAMS where he was listed in critical condition with severe head trauma from the assault.  Homicide Detectives and CSSU responded to the scene where it was processed for evidence.
 
A general description of the suspects was obtained and on 11-16-2009, an “Alert” was sent out on these two suspects to all Central Arkansas Law Enforcement Agencies.  Detectives eres contacted by Maumelle Police Department about having two of these suspects in custody in their city based on this “Alert” being seen on television.
 
Detectives responded to Maumelle Police Department where contact was made with Daniel Silva and Veronica Mills who matched the descriptions in the “Alert”.  Silva and Mills were then transported to the Downtown Detective Division where they both were charged with one Felony count each of Battery in the 1st Degree and then transported to Pulaski County Regional Jail for processing. 
 
On 12-1-2009, Mr. William Lee Fought died as a result of his injuries he suffered in this assault at 1530 hours.  Mr. Fought’s body was taken to the Arkansas State Crime Lab by the Pulaski County Coroner for an autopsy.  Detectives will work with the Prosecuting Attorney on murder charges.
