LRPD officers surrounded a house and arrested an armed burglary suspect Wednesday after he jumped from a second-floor window trying to escape. Police were called by a witness who'd seen the suspect, Miles Williams, 22, kick in a carport door to get in a house in the Kingwood neighborhood. The suspect, who police said pointed a gun in their direction, was charged with aggravated burglary, aggravated assault, possession of a firearm and also with theft by receiving in connection with a burglary at another Kingwood home.

Officers responded to a burglary in progress call and made contact with a witness who advised that he observed a black male pull into his neighbor’s driveway in a silver Chevrolet Trailblazer and kick in the carport door of the residence. Officers observed the suspect vehicle still in the driveway and surrounded the residence. They observed a black male looking through the window trying to find a way to exit the residence. Officers demanded that the suspect, who was later identified as Miles Williams, out of the residence, at which time he pointed a weapon in the direction of officers. After approximately twenty minutes, Williams jumped through a second story window. He was taken into custody and transported to the DTDO where he was charged with Aggravated Residential Burglary, Aggravated Assault, Possession of Firearm by Certain Persons, Theft of Property, Possession of Controlled Substance and FTA. He was also charged with Theft by Receiving in reference to a residential burglary that occurred on 10-16-09 at 75 Lefever Lane, due to pawning property that had been taken from the residence and pawned at Ponderosa Pawn Shop. He was then transported to the PCRJ.
