The hits keep coming for Joe Pierce, the convenience store clerk who bought a $100,000 lottery ticket. Having been dragged through the newspaper over a Fort Smith park morals bust, he had little luck with a judge yesterday when he tried to get a public defender to represent him on a felony drug charge of possession of methadone.
But Circuit Judge Steve Tabor learned Pierce won the lottery.
“Did you collect the winnings?” he asked.
When Pierce said yes, Tabor postponed the arraignment for a week and told Pierce he would have to hire his own attorney.
